10 Things I Can’t Live Without in My Classroom

1. Flair pens

I LOVE flair pens, they’re my favorite for writing under the document camera and they come in so many different colors so I can do each step a different color or highlight certain things or color code vocab!

2. Ticonderoga pencils

I’ll admit it… I’m a HUGE pencil snob. The other brands just don’t work as well as the BEST pencil in the world.. Ticonderogas. They’re sturdy, erase well and last longer than other pencils.

3. White Out Tape

I much prefer white out tape to the liquid. No dry time and you can white out your mistakes, write over them and act like it never happened. Get 10 for only $11.99!

4. Giant (easel) Post its

I love using these for brain dumps, group work, around the room activities, brainstorming, anchor charts, so many things! They’re sturdy, and the stickiness stays all year even when you reposition them over and over again!

5. Sharpie Flip chart markers

These are the markers that I use to write on the giant easel pads (pick #4). They come in a bunch of fun colors and they don’t bleed through the paper like regular sharpies would.

6. Sticky notes

So many uses for sticky notes. The ones I have linked here are not actual post-its but they work just as well. I use them to write down steps to show students that they can copy onto their papers, quick problems, bookmarks, to do lists, reminders, the list is endless!

7. Lined sticky notes

I love these lined sticky notes for to-do lists, writing last minute sub plan instructions when you can’t run down to the printer again, reminders to send home with students, copy number reminders, and for planning to stick in my planner! Again, not post-it brand BUT they work just as well and are cheaper (heck yes!).

8. Glue sticks

Amazon brand gluesticks are much cheaper than Elmer’s and they work just as well. They are great for cut & paste activities and interactive notebooks. They hold up well and as long as the caps go back on, (seriously, these kids can be so clueless sometimes putting these back..) they last a long time!

9. cordless hot glue gun

This hot glue gun has been a life changer. I use hot glue to hang up all my posters around the room. (Hot tip: if you can’t put hot glue directly on the walls, put it on painters tape and put the painters tape on the walls) Having the freedom to move around the room without having to unplug and re-plug in my hot glue gun has been a game changer!

10. Hot Glue gun sticks

These are the glue gun sticks that I use with my glue gun. They last the whole year, are very sticky but don’t get runny in the hot glue gun.
